Jean Qian
Jean Qian is a senior at Emory University studying political science, sociology, and quantitative sciences. Her interest in imagining democracy started as a campaign volunteer with the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition in her home state of Florida. This passion in promoting civic engagement and social justice has since evolved to include global and transnational matters, as she hopes to pursue a career in international human rights and public interest law. Jean currently works as a legal intern with Lawyers Without Borders, an NGO that focuses on building justice sectors through providing pro bono legal services for human rights matters such as trafficking, forced migration, and terrorism.
On campus, Jean is the President of Emory Sexual Assault Peer Advocates. She is also the founding president of Emory Undergraduate Legal Aid Association and a senior advisor to Emory Tibet-China Initiative. Jean has also worked as a research assistant at the Emory Politics of Policing Lab, where she assisted with a book project titled “Deadly Force: Police Shootings in Urban America,” slated to be published through Princeton University Press in 2025.
